For small charities fundraising events can consume time and resources that would otherwise be directed to that charity’s beneficiaries, yet fundraising income is much-needed to ensure the continued delivery of services. To confront this problem the FSI launched the The Great Big small Charity Car Draw in 2009 to take the hard work out of fundraising events and support charities right across the UK. Thanks to the support of Kia Rotherham and the FSI trustees, the Draw is back in 2012. It’s a lottery for supporters of small charities (and the public) to buy tickets to support their cause with the chance to win a brand new Kia Picanto.
The Rainbow Centre for Children have come on board to raise funds to support our work in the Bristol area. The proceeds of the Draw will be used to support local children and their families who have been affected by a bereavement or a life threatening illness.
Each ticket costs £2 and 92% of that is for our charity – so if we sell 100 tickets, that’s £184 you’ve helped raise for us. £184 means that The Rainbow Centre can provide 6 therapy sessions for a child or parent at a time when they need it most.
You can buy tickets online through our charity page at http://www.smallcharitycardraw.co.uk/tickets.php?id=rcc
Or get in touch with us at by phone 0117 985 3354 or email angela@rainbowcentre.org.uk if you would like to buy some paper tickets, sell some tickets to your friends of if you would just like further information.

We are delighted to announce that we have 5 Golden Bond places available for the Virgin London Marathon 2013.
If you have missed out on a ballot place and aren't fast enough for a championship place in this iconic race, why not sign up to Run for Rainbow?
If you would also like to be considered for a Rainbow Centre Golden Bond place please complete the online application form. Our 5 places will be allocated on a first come first served basis and we will also have a waiting list in case of injury. We ask all our Golden Bond runners to pay a deposit of £100 to secure their place (we will refund this once the minimum fundraising target of £1250 has been reached).
All Virgin London Marathon Golden Bond places remain the property of The Rainbow Centre for Children and in the event of injury we reserve the right to substitute your name for that of another runner.
We will provide all our runners with a Rainbow Centre sports t-shirt and full fundraising and information pack. We will also invite you to a runners reception at the Centre so you can see where the money you are raising is going.

Local Giving have got half-a-million pounds to give away to charities on their website and all you have to do is give a tenner!
From September 25 until all £500,000 is gone, they will match the first £10 of every donation made on Localgiving.com. So, if you give £10, they’ll grow it to £20. If you claim Gift Aid, it becomes £22.50!
And to celebrate the launch of our their regular monthly donation feature, they’ll match the first three donations (up to £30) when you sign up to a give monthly.
So, if you give £10 every month, we’ll match the first £30. Add in Gift Aid and your initial £30 donation becomes £67.50.
Search for the charities and groups that matter to you, then, follow the simple instructions to make a secure donation.
Help us to build stronger communities – give locally.

Here at The Rainbow Centre for Children we love a good competition. We’re spending the summer cheering on Team GB so we were very excited when we found out about the www.marlerhaley.co.uk competition to win £300 of vouchers to spend on display items that will help us cheer even louder.
So why should we win the Marler Haley vouchers? In the time that it takes you to read this article, a family’s life could have changed forever – they may have received a diagnosis of a terminal illness or received the tragic news that a loved one has died. This is where The Rainbow Centre for Children comes in. We support children and their families from Bristol, Bath and the surrounding area including Somerset, South Wales and Gloucestershire. We help families deal with the pain, grief, anger and sadness that can be caused by the death of a child or parent, or their life threatening illness, and the impact that has on individual family members as well as the family as a whole.
Families come to us not only because someone has died from an illness but also as a result of heart attacks, road traffic accidents, suicide or murder. We offer art and music therapy to children, as these non-verbal therapies are a valuable means of expressing emotions when words simply can’t be found, counselling to older children and adults, and massage therapy to help relieve both the side effects of conventional medicine, or the physical symptoms of grief or simply to keep a carer healthy so they have the strength to continue to look after their loved ones. Each therapy session lasts for 50 minutes, and the children or their parents / carers come at the same time each week so they build up a relationship and trust with our therapists. All of our therapies are provided free of charge to the families for as long as they want or need our help.
As you can imagine the families that we help don’t have a lot to cheer about. However we have a variety of wonderful supporters who do need us to raise our voices and celebrate their achievements. Rainbow Runners and Riders get sponsored to take part in a range of fundraising events from Bristol’s Biggest Bike Ride to London Nightrider, Bath Half Marathon to the London Marathon and these wonderful people deserve to know that we are there cheering them on as they pound the streets and crank the pedals. An Ensign Lite Outdoor Flag http://www.marlerhaley.co.uk/outdoor-advertising/signpost-outdoor-flag--344 would enable us to highlight our cheerleaders position and ensure the Rainbow Runners & Riders will know we value their support and will be spurred on to raise even more money to provide therapy for families at a time when they need it most.
We depend entirely on voluntary donations and fundraising for our existence so any additional funds raised would make a real difference to our work.
