The word ‘legacy’ often conjures up an image of huge fortunes. Quite simply however, it means leaving a part of your money or personal possessions to a specific person or charity. It can be as little or as much as you wish. Although the Rainbow Centre has received just a small number of legacies over the years, we realise the tremendous fortune of such gifts, and how they have played a vital part in the growth of the Centre and our ability to continue providing help free of charge. You can help us in the future. Leaving a legacy to a charity costs nothing in your lifetime and helps to ensure that our children of the future, who are faced with the devastating consequences of life threatening illness and the death of loved ones, continue to receive our help. Even the smallest of gifts goes a long way to ensuring that the work continues. We asked one of our supporters, Margaret why she has chosen to leave a legacy to The Rainbow Centre “Adding the Rainbow Centre to my Will was easy, I just told the solicitors what changes I wanted and it cost about £50 to update it. Charities need to know that monies will be available in the future. Hopefully my own children and grandchildren will be better off than those who need the help of the charities I bequeath to. Add a legacy to your will |

Payroll giving donations are deducted before tax, so each £1.00 you give will only cost you 78p, and if you’re a higher rate tax payer it will only cost you 60p. Ask your HR or Finance Department for more details. If you don’t already have a payroll giving scheme, the Payroll Giving Grants programme is rewarding small and medium sized enterprises that set up Payroll Giving with a grant of up to £500. What’s more, the first £10 of each employee’s monthly donations will be matched, pound for pound, for a period of six months. That’s up to £60 extra per employee going to their chosen charity. Payroll Giving enables employees to give to any UK charity straight from their gross salary (before tax is deducted), giving immediate tax relief on those donations. This means that £10 donated each month costs only £7.80 for employees paying standard rate tax and will be worth as much as £20 to the charity (courtesy of the Government matching scheme for the first six months of your donations). |
