Esme's Story
"Olivia was a beautiful healthy baby, alert and attentive, especially to the songs and games of her big brother and sister. Then one day when she was four weeks old she suddenly stopped breathing while out on a trip in the car. I tried to resuscitate her. She was taken to hospital where they managed to get her heart going and she was put on a ventilator. She remained in intensive care for 10 days during which time it became clear that her brain stem had been damaged and that without life support she would be unable to live. We allowed Olivia to die peacefully in our arms."
